"This old country schoolhouse to me is the very personification of late fall....aged, gray and lifeless. Long deserted for the modern mass education centers with their shining laboratories and sleek, bright classrooms, the old school has outlived its usefulness and will never again echo to the tramp of young feet or ring with childish voices. There's no doubt , I suppose, that modern educational methods and institutions are more efficient. I wonder, though, if we didn't lose an intangible something....something very basic and important....when we deserted the old schoolhouse for modern efficiency."
