Every Man is a Grandson

A cowboy contemplates the overgrown graves of his grandparents while his horse grazes nearby. He stands in an ethereal shaft of light with a translucent figure kneeling next to him on the left. A red line representing physical life cuts through the bottom third of the painting. Native Americans on horseback and Conestoga wagons traverse the distant prairie.
