Ginny

Portrait of Virginia Glew Jaeger. Finely detailed, yet very small close up in oil of family friend. Merizon was close friends with Ginny's father, Frank Glew and spent a lot of time with them in their Grand Rapids, MI home while living in Frankfort, MI c. 1954-'55. He would take a train from Thompsonville, MI, a small town near Frankfort, and come down to Grand Rapids often on the weekends to take care of general business or to sell his latest painting. The Glew's and Merizon would spend hours sitting on their front porch discussing art, politics, religion and philosophy. It was at this time that the portrait was completed. Letters between Merizon and Mr. Glew make reference to the painting. Ginny remained a life long friend to the Merizon's. She was interviewed in 2005 for the documentary "Armand" by Muriel Zandstra and Jennifer Dornbush.
