Schooner

This was painted in 1934 when Merizon was just 14 years old. He sold it soon after painting to a gentleman who lived on his childhood home street in Grand Rapids, Bates St SE. As a boy growing up during the Great Depression he would often go travel the streets of Grand Rapids on foot, selling his small paintings to anyone who would perhaps give him the time of day or even open their door when he would come by. Signed Armand Merizon, 1934, lower left corner.
