The Armand Merizon Collection 1920-2010

(Back to Catalog)

Three Boys

Originally owned by Sam Dix. Signed Merizon, but most likely painted in the early to mid 1970's. Merizon produced many paintings at this time that were not dated. Also shown is an image of the under painting which reinforces the fact that his paintings were a very involved process with layers of design and color never to be seen but that were so important for the overall mood and atmosphere that are so unique to him.

The retrospective at The GRAM opened in December of 1986 and ran through the early months of 1987.  The exhibit was located in the new Burke Porter gallery designated for local artists. It was the first exhibit to be held in the gallery then located in the old court house on Pearl and Division Ave.
