Old Mission's View

When I set out to make a painting, I find that shapes and light are what interest me most. If the shapes grab me first then I look for what is happening with the light in those shapes. If the light grabs me first I will search for the shapes in and around the light.

When I stop to paint, I most often will paint more than one piece from that location. This is the second one from this place on this day.

This late summer scene on the west side of the tip of Old Mission Peninsula looking at West Grand Traverse Bay was one of those moments that I was completely seduced by the blinding light reflecting off the bay.
