Red Barn on a Winter's Day

The painting, a winter scene which appears to be plein air, done in heavy oil on canvas covered board. The painting is not signed but on the back of the panel there is a date, Nov. 1943, and an inscription, "To Betty from Armand". Christmas present that year? Armand had just gotten out of the army and was only beginning to date Betty Jeanne Grainger to whom he married approx 6 years later. Original frame with cardboard backing. A square cut out of the cardboard to show the inscription was probably done by Merizon.
