Mr. Newton Carter

Drawing of his barber, Mr. Carter. Second portrait of this man, the first being a profile in his barber shop. For this drawing, Mr. Carter got dressed up and came to Merizon's studio, Armand's  bedroom at his parents house at 1019 Bates, Grand Rapids, MI. Mr. Carter's shop was around the corner on Eastern Ave near Sherman. There is an empty lot there to this day. Merizon was very taken with Mr. Carter and had many discussions with him about life, race, the world. A true gentleman as can be seen in this mans expression. This drawing hung in the Merizon house forever!
