"Split Ring" was installed at 300 Ottawa Avenue in 1973 as part of an exhibition titled "Sculpture off the Pedestal" organized by the Women's Committee of the Grand Rapids Art Museum. Thirteen major sculptures were exhibited throughout downtown Grand Rapids. Following the temporary exhibit, "Split Ring" was on display at Woodland Mall. The work was returned to 300 Ottawa in 2016 to permanently honor the work of the Women's Committee.
