This sculpture represents the native people of this land and was commissioned by the Indian Sculpture Advisory Committee of elders from the Odawa, Ojibwa and Potawatomi tribes. It was donated by Fred Meijer as Trustee of the Meijer Foundation to the City of Grand Rapids on behalf of its Native American community.
