The Labor Heritage Society of West Michigan gave "Spirit of Solidarity" to the City of Grand Rapids as a memorial of the "Great Furniture Strike of 1911." A plaque nearby describes the strike and its lasting impact on the City and its workers. The monument was dedicated April 19, 2007 on the 96th anniversary of the strike.
