Poetry and Art 2019

The Art Committee of Fountain Street Church presented a poetry and art exhibit during July and August, 2019. In this version of Ekphrastic Projects* the Fountain Street Church poetry reading group selected eight poems to inspire artists to paint, sculpt, photograph, or work in any other medium. The poems are presented in the records shown below. Each record also contains a link to information about the poet as well as images of the artwork inspired by the poems.

Exhibit dates: Tuesday July 9th through Sunday September 15th, 2019   This catalog will remain online long after the exhibition.

* “Ekphrasis” is the Greek word for a description of a work of art produced as a rhetorical exercise. The Poetry Foundation, defines an ekphrastic poem as one inspired or stimulated by a work of art. For many years the summer art exhibit at Fountain Street Church has been an ekphrastic exhibition. This is the third year these exhibits have been cataloged online.
